What's the difference between linking and pairing a MagicBand+?
A:
You will LINK your MagicBand+ to your Disney account and assign it to a guest via the My Disney Experience app, which allows you to access your MagicBand’s settings and assign your tickets, passes, reservations and other entitlements. Then, you will PAIR your MagicBand+ to your smart device using Bluetooth.
Pairing Your MagicBand+: You may pair your MagicBand+ to your mobile phone by visiting the MagicBands & More page in the My Disney Experience mobile app and following the prompts for pairing. If you would like to unpair, simply find the MagicBand+ in the list of available Bluetooth devices in your smart device’s Settings and unpair it.
Pairing is not required to use your MagicBand+ for in-park and Resort experiences. However, you must pair your MagicBand+ to a smart device using the My Disney Experience mobile app if you would like to access the band’s settings, customize your preferences on your band (such as default light color) and keep your band software up to date.
Linking Your MagicBand+ and Disney Account to Access Your Entitlements: If you only pair your MagicBand+ to your device but do not link the MagicBand+ to your Disney account, your entitlements will not be associated with the MagicBand+ and you will not be able to use the band for things such as entering the parks or checking in for reservations. However, you will still be able to use your MagicBand+ in connection with certain in-park interactive experiences without linking your MagicBand+ to your Disney account. Here are the steps to linking your entitlements to your MagicBand+:
- Link your MagicBand+ to your Disney account by tapping it to your smart device, scanning the QR code with your device’s camera or typing the MagicBand+ identification code into the Link a MagicBand or Card function of the My Disney Experience app.
- Assign the MagicBand+ to yourself or someone on your Family & Friends list.
After linking your MagicBand+ to your Disney account, you will be prompted to pair your MagicBand+.
