Sea Turtles at Walt Disney World Resort
Sea turtles live in warm ocean waters throughout the world. They feed in shallow seagrass beds, coral reefs and the open ocean, migrating long distances from their feeding grounds to the nesting beaches where females lay their eggs.

Home Away From Home
The sea turtles share a 5.7-million-gallon (21.6-million-liter) saltwater aquarium with over 50 other species. The Disney-made coral reef offers spaces for the turtles to swim, explore and rest just as they would in the ocean.
- Made-to-Order Meals: Green sea turtles are voracious vegetarians, eating about 20 pounds of lettuce and cabbage per day. In the wild, they eat so much seagrass that the fat beneath their shells turns green—which is how they get their name!
Loggerhead sea turtles are carnivores, so their diet includes squid and herring—plus a special vitamin. - A Checkup While Chowing Down: Disney animal care experts train sea turtles to surface at feeding time so they can monitor the animals’ diet and inspect them to make sure they’re healthy.
Disney Conservation: Saving Sea Turtles
Sea turtle populations have suffered a rapid decline due to habitat loss, reduction in large prey and increased poaching.
