African Cuisine

Discover a delicious blend of traditional African, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. Steak, chicken, seafood, vegan and vegetarian dishes are infused with a uniquely bold blend of tantalizing flavors and fragrant spices.

Changing seasonally, the menu may include flavor bursting appetizers like imaginative brick oven-fired flatbreads and mouth-watering entrées such as oak-grilled filet mignon.

The children’s menu features pizza, grilled chicken or steak, and market-fresh fish served with ancient grains and vegetables.

Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 180 days prior to your visit.

New! The Lion King Limited-Time Dining Experience

Celebrate The Lion King as you dine on an exclusive, 3-course prix fixe menu paired with gentle melodies played by traditional African musicians.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Disney animated classic, as well as the 2019 film of the same name, Jiko – The Cooking Place is proud to present this exquisite menu, featuring dishes to commemorate Simba’s journey.

Appetizer
Start your meal with a dish packed with playful flavors to symbolize Simba’s happy childhood and desire to become king.

  • Young Cedar Creek clam malata, potatoes, pomegranate, and a bone marrow finish

Entrees
Your main course offers dishes inspired by the eerie elephant boneyard and Simba’s courage to persevere through trials and tribulations.

Choose One:

  • Bone-In Ribeye with hibiscus, nettles and fregula
  • Lobster Sosatie with red shrimp, squid, mussels and fragrant rice.

Dessert
As our story—and your meal—comes to a close, celebrate balance as Simba grows up and learns what he needs to do lead the Pride lands.

Twin wood-burning ovens roar as subtly changing light mimics the warm red, orange and gold tones of an African sunset. Watch chefs prepare appetizers in the open show kitchen, and after dinner, stroll through the grounds of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to encounter more than 30 species of African wildlife in lush, natural habitats.

Dress Code

Guests are asked to adhere to the minimum dress code requirements at this Signature Dining experience. Dressier attire is also welcome. Please explore the minimum dress code requirements:

Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional.

Women must wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition.

Not permitted are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.
