All Aboard!

Cross the African savannah for a backstage journey through Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.

Steam ahead aboard the Wildlife Express Train for a peaceful 7-minute, 1.2-mile journey from the heart of Africa to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, a park area dedicated to the preservation and conservation of animals. Here you can get an up-close look at the inner workings of Disney's Animal Kingdom park and take part in fun-filled, educational activities that help create awareness of animal conservation.

Along the way, travel past several animal housing and veterinary facilities, for rhinos, elephants and other creatures.

After your visit to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, board the Wildlife Express Train for your 5-minute scenic adventure back to Africa.

Walt Disney’s Trains

Possessing a love of trains, Walt Disney built his first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, launched in 1950 and included a custom-built, steam-powered locomotive that encircled his property.

Later, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland park, a favorite of Guests since 1955.

Today, railroads exist at every Disney Resort around the globe.

  • Conservation Station, an animal care facility offering informative, interactive displays
